About BeautyfulDSG

Martrie Bush (Williams) was born and raised in Tampa, Florida.  She currently resides in the greater Orlando area.
Martrie is a full-time Revenue Cycle Analyst for a large Health Care System and a single "doubly blessed" mother of 26-year-old boy and 20-year-old girl/boy twins.
She is a graduate of the USAF School of Nursing and served active duty as a Surgical Technologist during Operation Enduring Freedom, until her honorable discharge in 1993.  She continued her education at Florida Metropolitan University in Tampa and has over 26 years in the field of healthcare as a clinician, educator and administrator.

The first time she heard "she is pretty for a dark skin girl" was during high school.  She was modeling for the annual Distributive Education Clubs of America (DECA) fashion show.  An agent from a local modeling agency had just finished congratulating her on a job well done.  Then she overheard the agent speaking to her teacher about Martrie’s chances for entering the modeling field. She said Martrie was very pretty, but she was short and pretty for a dark skin girl.  This caused a large blow to her self-esteem and self-worth.
Martrie’s personal battle with low self-esteem and depression caused deficits in her career, marriage and parenting. But through seeking and building an intimate relationship with God along with professional therapy, Martrie has now grown to a featured article writer, blogger and emerging author.
It has been through this growth process that she decided to work to inspire women of all shades and sizes to recognize and embrace their God given beauty!
Thus, the blossoming of Beautyful Dark Skin Girl.com.  A blog that offers inspiration to others who may be struggling with self-esteem and depression.
Martrie is a lover of reading, music, baking, travel, makeup, fashion, handbags and a beginning golfer. She loves the outdoors and all aspects of nature.  She has traveled to 3 continents and 6 countries, and 13 different states in the U.S.  She attributes her success to God’s grace, therapy and a wonderful, vivacious group of friends who both teach and ground her.

Her first novel currently titled, The Silence She Held, is scheduled to be completed and released in late 2019.
